IOWA WINE EXPERIENCE AT THE IOWA STATE FAIR

The Iowa State Fair Wine Experience is a partnership between the Iowa State Fair, Iowa State University Extension and the Iowa Wine Growers Association. The Iowa Wine Experience is hosted at Grandfather's Barn up on the hill through the duration of the Iowa State Fair and features educational displays, Iowa wine tasting and the Commercial Wine Competition and Home Brewers Competition displays. Outside, kids can learn more about grapes at "Grape Get-a-Way!", or play one of the outdoor lawn games available, while you kick back and relax at the Fair with a glass of Iowa wine, craft beer or soda from Top of the Vine next door! Each afternoon, we'll have industry speakers and featured wineries and winemakers, fun activities for Fairgoers of all ages and the best views of the Fairgrounds and downtown Des Moines.

Wine tastings inside Grandfather's Barn - - 9 a.m. - 8 p.m.

"Grape Get-A-Way" outside Grandfather's Barn - children's activities, Iowa's largest grape cluster interactive art display, lawn games and more - - 9 a.m. - 8 p.m.

Calling All Volunteers!

Each year, we fill hundreds of volunteer shifts to help this event run smoothly. There are shifts available each day in several different areas - wine tasting, T-shirt/bottled wine sales and outside helping with our stage activities and entertainment. Shift times are 9 a.m. - 1 p.m., 1 - 5 p.m. and 5 - 8 p.m.

When you sign up to join our Iowa Wine Crew as a volunteer, you will receive an entry ticket and parking pass in the mail a few weeks ahead of the Fair, as well as a free Iowa wine T-shirt at check-in AND, not to brag or anything, but we have the most FUN!
